Midasuno, a Welsh alternative rock band from South Wales, formed in 1997 under the name Opium by school friends Scott Andrews, Gavin Jessop, Matt Riste, Mike Cloke, and Steven Hopkins. The group changed their name to Midasuno around 2000 and recorded a demo at Frontline Studios, Caerphilly, which won them a spot at the UK showcase In the City in Manchester. Their debut single "The Art of Fear" was released through Cardiff's indie record label Cascade in 2002. The band signed with Lockjaw Records and released their first EP, When Bulls Play God, in September 2003, which received positive reviews from rock press outlets. After a series of lineup changes and tours, Midasuno released their debut album Songs in the Key of Fuck in 2007. The band announced their final show at Cardiff's Millennium music hall on December 4, 2010.
