Carpe Diem String Quartet is an American chamber ensemble founded in 2005 in Columbus, Ohio. The group consisted of Sam Weiser, Marisa Ishikawa, Korine Fujiwara, and Ariana Nelson. The ensemble performed a repertoire ranging from classical works by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart and Ludwig van Beethoven to contemporary compositions by Reza Vali, Richard Danielpour, and Jonathan Leshnoff. The quartet recorded the nine string quartets of Russian composer Sergei Taneyev for the label Naxos. In 2009, the ensemble received Grammy Award nominations in four categories, including Best Chamber Music Performance. Its discography included the recordings Musique de chambre (2012) and Taneyev: String Quartets volumes one through five. The quartet collaborated with musicians such as Yo-Yo Ma and singer-songwriter Willy Porter. The ensemble established educational programs including Musicare and Music Goes to School.
