Harvey William Bassett, known professionally as DJ Harvey, was born in 1961 and is an English DJ. He began his music career at age 13 as a drummer for the Cambridge punk band Ersatz, which released the single "Smile in Shadow" on their indie label Leisure Sounds. In 1985, inspired by the emerging hip-hop movement during a trip to New York City, Bassett started DJing and formed the group TDK (Tone Deaf Crew). He launched his weekly night "Moist" at the Gardening Club in London in 1991, inviting DJs like Larry Levan. Following this, he had a residency at London's Ministry of Sound, resulting in the mix album Late Night Sessions (1996). He released his debut electronic recording project as Locussolus in 2011 and received the Outstanding Contribution Award at the DJ Awards in Ibiza.
