Born in Danbury, North Carolina, in 1998, Mason Via is the son of David Via, a bluegrass singer and guitarist who introduced him to music. He began by playing fiddle at local festivals and launched his solo career with the album Up, Up, Up (2015), followed by collaborations with Tom Mindte three years later. After the solo album 409 in 2019 and the live recording Live@ Rooster Walk released in 2020, Mason Via joined the band Old Crow Medicine Show in 2021, which he left in 2024 after co-writing seven of the twelve compositions on the Grammy-nominated album Jubilee. After the release of New Horizons in 2022, the album Mason Via (2025), recorded in Virginia's Blue Ridge Mountains, reaches #12 on the U.S. Billboard bluegrass chart.
