The National Philharmonic Orchestra of Russia (NPR), an esteemed academic musical ensemble, was founded in January 2003 by the Russian Ministry of Culture, under the distinguished leadership of world-renowned violinist and conductor Vladimir Spivakov, a People's Artist of the USSR and UNESCO Artist for Peace. Since its inaugural concert in September 2003, commemorating conductor Evgeny Svetlanov, the orchestra has collaborated with a plethora of leading conductors across generations, including Michel Plasson, Vladimir Ashkenazy, and James Conlon, among others. Its concert programs have featured stars from the global opera stage and celebrated solo instrumentalists like Jessye Norman, Plácido Domingo, Dmitri Hvorostovsky, and Anna Netrebko. With a repertoire spanning early classical symphonies to contemporary compositions, the National Philharmonic Orchestra of Russia has presented numerous unique programs, subscriptions, and concert series, achieving Russian and world premieres. Celebrating its 20th anniversary with a concert at Zaryadye Hall on March 10, 2023, the orchestra has been recognized with grants from the Russian government and the President of the Russian Federation.
