Rezwana Chowdhury Bannya, born on January 13, 1957 in Rangpur, Bangladesh, is a prominent singer specializing in Rabindra Sangeet. Her early musical training began under Abdul Ali and continued with Sanjida Khatun and Atiqul Islam at Chhayanaut and Bulbul Academy of Fine Arts (BAFA) in Dhaka. Bannya's breakthrough came when she received a scholarship from the Indian Council for Cultural Relations to study at Sangit Bhavana, Santiniketan. Bannya has released numerous albums, including স্বপনচারিণী (2000) and Sarasha Sangeet Madhurima (Songs Of Rabindranath Tagore) (2001). Her notable achievements include winning Bangladesh's highest civilian award, the Independence Day Award (2016), and India’s fourth-highest civilian award, Padma Shri (2024).
