Scott Matthews (born 15 January 1976 in Wolverhampton, West Midlands, England) is a British singer‑songwriter, guitarist and vocalist who first emerged on the scene with his debut album Passing Stranger released on 13 March 2006 by San Remo Records and later reissued by Island Records; the album entered the UK Albums Chart at number 45. Early BBC exposure came through Janice Long, Mark Radcliffe and Bob Harris, and a BBC Radio 2 session followed in April 2006, which helped the single "Elusive" break into the charts and earned Scott Matthews the Ivor Novello Award for Best Song Musically and Lyrically in May 2007. Scott Matthews continued to build momentum with Elsewhere (2009), a self‑produced effort co‑helmed by Gavin Monaghan, and What the Night Delivers (2011), produced by Jon Cotton and featuring guest performances from double bassist Danny Thompson, Sam Martin, Danny Keane and his brother Darren Matthews. A national tour supported the release, and Scott Matthews opened for the Foo Fighters during their 2006 acoustic Skin & Bones tour. Scott Matthews then launched Home Part 1 in 2014, followed by Home Part 2 in 2016, both released through his own Shedio Records. Subsequent albums include The Great Untold (2018), New Skin (2020)-a product of the COVID‑19 lockdown-and Restless Lullabies (2023). Throughout his career, Scott Matthews played a role in contemporary British folk‑rock, consistently blending introspective songwriting with acoustic‑driven arrangements.
