Creutzfeld & Jakob, a German hip-hop band from Witten, North Rhine-Westphalia, was formed in 1998 by Philipp Dammann and Evangelos Polichronidis. The group gained initial recognition in the Ruhr area's underground rap scene with their 1999 single "Partner" Part 1+2, released under Put Da Needle To Da Records. Their debut album, Gottes Werk und Creutzfelds Beitrag, was released in 2000, and featured the notable track "Fehdehandschuh", which included a collaboration with Kool Savas and reached Number 35 in the German album charts. The band's second album, Zwei Mann gegen den Rest!, was released in 2003 under Universal Music, peaking at Number 81 on the German Hitparade. Despite their chart success, Creutzfeld & Jakob faced challenges with label promotions and internal changes, leading to a semi-professional status with occasional performances.
