Sud Sound System, an Italian reggae band from Salento, Puglia, became active in 1989. Known for blending Jamaican rhythms with local sounds and the Salento dialect, their breakthrough came in June 1991 with "Fuecu/T'a sciuta bona", a vinyl single that led to numerous concerts and media appearances. The band released several albums, including Comu na petra (1996) and Lontano (2003), which won the Tenco Award for "Best Italian Dialect Work". They collaborated with international artists like Macka B and Mad Professor, and performed at notable events such as Woodstock 5 Stelle in 2010.
