In 2018, an unknown welder in his sixties was filmed in his village of Elig-Mfomo, Cameroon. In this amateur video, he protests against his commune's energy supply system. The video goes viral on social networks across the country. It attracts the attention of a renowned YouTuber and influencer, Steve Fah, who finds the man who calls himself Big Barack. He promises to make him a singing star and gets him to record a humorous track, "Goûter ça ". The song became a hit, even beyond Cameroon's borders, garnering over a million views on online video platforms. The singer moved to Yaoundé and began performing in the country, as well as in the United Arab Emirates and Belgium. However, a financial dispute between the producer and the singer led to the latter's return to his home village, and the end of his short-lived musical career.
