Acqua Fragile is an Italian progressive rock band from Parma that formed in 1971. The original ensemble was founded as “Gli Immortali” and consisted of vocalist Bernardo Lanzetti, guitarist Gino Campanini, drummer Piero Canavera, keyboardist Maurizio Mori, and bassist Franz Dondi. After changing their name to Acqua Fragile, the group was hired to open for international acts including Soft Machine and Gentle Giant. They released their debut eponymous studio album, Acqua Fragile, (1973) which featured English lyrics and a musical style inspired by British progressive rock. Their second recording, Mass Media Stars (1974), was distributed in both Italy and the United States. Following the departure of Lanzetti to join the band Premiata Forneria Marconi (PFM), the ensemble disbanded in 1975. Lanzetti, Canavera, and Dondi resumed activity as Acqua Fragile in 2013 and subsequently released the studio albums A New Chant (2017) and Moving Fragments (2023).
