Christiane Ufholz, born Christiane Wunder on September 1, 1947, in Leipzig, Germany, was a German singer of blues, rock, and jazz. She began performing in the 1960s with local bands in East Germany, including an early ensemble linked to Klaus Renft and recordings with Lift for the Amiga label. After signing an open letter protesting Wolf Biermann’s exile, she moved to West Berlin in 1976. She later performed with Windminister and, after reunification, toured with the Jonathan Blues Band. From 2009, she appeared regularly as a duo with guitarist Eberhard Klunker. Her recorded work includes the live album Live 2010 (2010) and Beautiful Machines (2014). Ufholz remained active on the German blues and jazz scene throughout her life. She died on January 1, 2023, in Berlin.
