A septet founded by veterans of the jazz scene, The Cookers have been carrying the hard-bop torch since 2008, when the band was formed, led by tenor saxophonist Billy Harper, trumpeters David Weiss and Eddie Henderson and drummer Billy Hart. Released almost simultaneously in 2010, the albums Cast the First Stone and Warriors give an idea of the incandescent jazz delivered by this supergroup. Two years later, between two tours, Believe.
