98 Mute was an American punk band from Hermosa Beach, California. The group formed in 1993 and consisted of vocalist Pat Ivie, guitarist Jason Page, bassist Doug Weems, and drummer Justin Thirsk. Their first album, 98 Mute, was released in 1996 via Theologian Records. Following this release, the band embarked on tours and participated in the Vans Warped Tour in both 1997 and 1998. They also appeared on various compilations and skate videos such as Good Times and The Show. In 1998, they released their second album, Class of '98, and performed with notable acts like GBH, Pennywise, 7 Seconds, H₂O, and blink-182. Their subsequent albums, Slow Motion Riot (2000) and After the Fall (2002), were both produced by Fletcher Dragge of Pennywise and released through Epitaph Records. The band disbanded in September 2002.
