Stille Volk, a folk band from the Pyrenees area of France, was formed in 1994 by Yan Arexis, Patrick Lafforgue, and Patrice Roques. The group gained initial recognition with their first demo, Ode aux lointains souverains, released in 1995. In 1996, they signed with Holy Records and released their debut album, Hantaoma. Their second album, Ex-Uvies (1998), introduced experimental elements with synthesizers and electric guitars. Following Yan Arexis' departure in 1998, Stille Volk continued as a duo and released Le Satyre cornu in 2001. In 2003, they released Maudat, focusing on sorcery themes from the Pyrenees region. The group then shifted focus to live performances, participating in notable festivals such as Cernunnos Pagan Fest (2015) and Hellfest (2016). Their sixth album, La Peira Negra (2014), marked their 20th anniversary with a darker tone. In 2019, Stille Volk released Milharis, centered around the Pyrenean myth of Millaris, under Prophecy Records.
