Swedish post-hardcore band Breach, formed in 1993 in Luleå, initially comprised Christian Andersson on bass, Jan Westerberg on drums, Anders Ekström and Erik Carlsson on guitars, and Tomas Hallbom as the vocalist. The group's first appearance was with "Signed for Life" on the compilation Hardcore for the Masses Vol. 2. Their debut EP, Outlines, was released under Burning Heart Records in 1994. Breach's career began with their first studio album, Friction (1995), produced by Fred Estby and characterized by new school-hardcore and heavy metal sounds. The band followed up with the EP Old Songs vs. New Beats in 1996. Their second full-length album, It's Me God, was released in 1997, showcasing a thrash metal, progressive, and punk hardcore blend. In 2000, Breach shifted their style with the release of Venom, which featured a more minimalistic and brutal sound due to significant lineup changes. The album received positive reviews from Kerrang! and charted on Billboard. A European tour followed with Neurosis and Entombed. Their final studio album, Kollapse (2001), marked a transition towards post-rock and heavy metal influences. After two supporting concerts, including one at Södra Teatern in Stockholm, Breach disbanded shortly after the album's release.
