Christophe Marquilly (born 25 March 1955 in Lille, France) founded the French blues and hard rock band Stocks in the late 1970s, after a stint with Travaux Publics. The group first gained attention performing energetically in northern France, opening for Thin Lizzy in Lille on 17 January 1981 and securing a deal with national label WEA. Their debut cassette Le Coup de Poker (1981) and live album Enregistré en Public (1982) established a reputation for hard‑hitting riffs and bluesy ballads such as "Suzy" and "Cocaïne". In 1984, after signing with CBS, the band released Éclats de Rock, featuring the hit "Elle me voit pas" and a music video that broadened their audience; the same year they toured the United States with Dan Behrman/Immigrant Music, Inc. Subsequent releases include Trois (2002) and, following the band's 2023 reformation, later Flashback Station (2026). Despite lineup changes, Stocks maintained a presence on French radio, performed at major festivals, and collaborated with acts such as Trust and Molly Hatchet, cementing their place in the French rock canon.
