Seamless shift to 3rd person... As 'Rob McAllister', his pieces here feature beautifully layered string arrangements, tasteful synth elements and deep, introspective piano parts recorded on his felted upright. He's inspired by the beauty of the natural world, of outer space, and by the music of composers like Max Richter, Jóhann Jóhannsson, Goldmund, Ólafur Arnalds and Nils Frahm.

Rob approaches his craft as if writing for films that don’t yet exist, or that may only ever live as unique stories within each listener’s mind. Of his music, he says: “I hope it encourages people to look inwards and take some time away from the relentless pace of the world around us.”
McAllister’s music has been widely used in film, tv, and advertising, for brands like Lexus, Holt Renfrew, CBC and IKEA. He's scored the documentaries My Dad’s Tapes (2024) and Town of Widows (2020). A continuous output has garnered him the attention of discerning critics. Ian Urbina of the New York Times has commended him saying: “His ambient-cinematic tracks are truly spectacular.”
