The Dylans were an English rock group formed in Sheffield in 1990 by former 1,000 Violins guitarist Colin Gregory, who switched to bass, alongside guitarist Jim Rodger and guitarist Andy Curtis. The band’s breakthrough came with the single "Godlike" released in January 1991 through Beggars Banquet’s subsidiary Situation Two, reaching number 5 on the UK Indie Chart. In October 1991 they issued their self‑titled debut album The Dylans under Situation Two, followed by the single "Lemon Afternoon" the same year. After a series of lineup changes, the group signed to Atlantic Records and released Spirit Finger on 18 April 1993, accompanied by singles "Mary Quant in Blue" and "Grudge"; the album failed to achieve commercial success, leading to the band’s split later that year. The Dylans’ brief career left a modest imprint on the early 1990s indie scene.
