David Six, born on August 14, 1985, in Vöcklabruck, Austria, is a pianist and composer known for his work in jazz and classical music. He began playing the piano at age six and studied philosophy and environmental engineering in Vienna before pursuing music. In 2012, Six completed his piano studies at the Anton Bruckner Private University in Linz. His debut album, Solo Piano – In the Rosewood Forrest, was released in 2014, followed by Matador: Graz Live the same year and Karkosh in 2019. He has collaborated with artists such as Shara Worden, Richard Reed Parry of Arcade Fire, Bill Frisell, and Grant Hart of Hüsker Dü. Six has received several awards, including the "The New Austrian Sound of Music" scholarship from the Federal Ministry for Europe, Integration and Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Austria in 2015 and a start-up grant for music from the Austrian Federal Chancellery in 2016.
