ElectroVamp, a Welsh electropop duo consisting of sisters Tammy-Jay and Kally Davies, emerged in 2005. Initially known as Kute, they gained early recognition by supporting Girls Aloud on their What Will the Neighbours Say? Live tour in 2007. Their debut single, "I Don't Like the Vibe in the VIP", was released on January 7, 2008, followed by their first EP, I Don't Like the Vibe in the Vip in 2008. Signed to Island Records, ElectroVamp released additional singles, including "Drinks Taste Better When They're Free" in 2008, and were nominated for Best New Artist at the TRL Awards 2008 in Italy. In April 2012, their track "Electroqueer" appeared on the compilation This Beat Is... POPTRONIK – Volume One. ElectroVamp released their third official single, "Hands Up", in 2012, which was later reissued as a duet with YouTube celebrity Keenan Cahill.
