Livingston, an English rock band from London, was formed in 2002. The group's origins trace back to 2000 in Pretoria, South Africa, where guitarist Chris van Niekerk met Beukes Willemse at a concert. The duo began collaborating and eventually moved to London, where they assembled the core of Livingston with various musicians, including bassist Phil Magee, drummer Paolo Serafini, and keyboardist Jakob Nebel. The band's name is derived from Richard Bach's novel Jonathan Livingston Seagull, reflecting their ethos of individuality and pursuing personal dreams. Livingston released their debut single "One Good Reason" in 2008, followed by the EPs Doorways and Wide Asleep. Their first full-length album, Sign Language, was released in 2009. The band gained significant exposure with their song "Go", which served as the official theme for the ZDF's coverage of the 2010 Winter Olympics in Vancouver. Livingston supported various artists, including Revolverheld and Apocalyptica, and appeared in television shows like Gute Zeiten, schlechte Zeiten and Eine wie keine. Their second album, Fire to Fire, was released on March 30, 2012. The band continued touring extensively, including an acoustic tour in Germany in 2013 with drummer Jan Siekmann. After releasing their third album, Animal, in September 2014, Livingston signed with SPV and continued to release singles like "Human" (2014) and "Sabotage" (2019).
