Kenji Ueda, born 上田ケンジ on August 30, 1965 in Sapporo, Japan, is a Japanese rock musician and producer known for his work as a bass player. He began playing guitar at age nine and was inspired by bands like Kiss and The Sex Pistols. In 1983, Ueda moved to Tokyo and joined the punk band Kenzi & The Trips. After the band disbanded, he formed The Pillows in 1989 with Sawao Yamanaka, Yoshiaki Manabe, and Shinichirou Sato. Their debut album Moon Gold was released under Pony Canyon in 1991, followed by White Incarnation in 1992. Ueda left The Pillows in 1992 due to musical differences and discord with other members. He then pursued a solo career, releasing his first solo album フォーエバーラブ (Forever Love) in 2000 under Bumblebee Records.
