Jean Bardy, born on March 3, 1957, in Soisy-sous-Montmorency, France, is a bassist and composer known for his contributions to jazz. He began his musical journey at the conservatory in Eaubonne, switching from guitar to double bass. In 1979, Bardy started performing with bebop formations in Parisian jazz clubs. In 1990, Bardy was awarded the La Villa Médicis Hors les Murs residency, which allowed him to spend a year in New York where he composed and recorded his debut album as a leader, Chansons. Throughout his career, Bardy has collaborated with numerous prominent musicians, including Chet Baker and Sonny Stitt. He has taught jazz at the regional conservatories in Paris and Versailles.
