Bob Berg was an acclaimed American jazz saxophonist who played with artists such as pianists Horace Silver, Cedar Walton and Chick Corea, trumpeter Miles Davis, singer Flora Purim and saxophonist Phil Woods as well as leading his own band. He studied music as a child and studied at The Juilliard School in New York. He performed internationally and played regularly at Ronnie Scott's Jazz Club in London, England.
His albums include 'New Birth' (1978), 'Steppin': Live in Europe' (1982), 'Enter the Spirit' (1993), 'Riddles' (1994), 'The Best of Bob Berg' (1995), 'Another Standard' (1997) and 'Jazz Times Superband' (2000). His 1990 release 'In the Shadows' went to number eleven on Billboard's Contemporary Jazz Albums Chart, 'Back Roads' (1992) reached number eight and was nominated for a Grammy Award for Best Contemporary Jazz Performance (Instrumental) and 'Virtual Reality' (1993) peaked at number 23. He died aged 51 in 2002.
