Niacin, an American jazz fusion band formed in 1996, consisted of bassist William Sheehan, drummer Dennis Chambers, and keyboardist John Novello. The group's name is derived from the timbral foundation of the Hammond B3 organ, also known as vitamin B3 or niacin. Their debut album, Niacin, was released in 1996, marking their entry into the jazz fusion scene with an instrumental sound that showcased Sheehan’s distinctive bass playing and Novello's keyboard work. The band continued to release albums including High Bias (1998), Organik (2005), and Deep (2000), which featured vocals by Glenn Hughes of Deep Purple and guest guitar by Steve Lukather of Toto. Niacin’s music is primarily instrumental, with the exception of Deep, highlighting their versatility within the jazz genre.
