Nylon Beat, a Finnish girl group consisting of Jonna Kosonen and Erin Koivisto, was formed in 1995 following their appearance on the TV show Kiitorata. The duo initially performed with backup tracks but later transitioned to live performances. Their music, written by Risto Asikainen and Ilkka Vainio, gained popularity in the late 1990s and early 2000s. Notable albums include Nylon Beat (1996) and Satasen laina (1997). Hit singles "Umm ma ma" and "Musta joulu" further solidified their success. Nylon Beat received eight gold and seven platinum records, along with the Band of the Year 1999 Emma award. The group disbanded in 2003 but reformed briefly to perform with Toto in 2007. Their music has been covered by notable artists such as South Korean k-pop girl groups S.E.S. and Aespa.
