Kurt Widmann, born on March 2, 1906, in Berlin, Germany, was a German jazz musician and orchestra leader. Initially a drummer, he later played the accordion and trombone. Widmann began his career in 1933 with a quintet at the Hotel Imperator in Berlin, where he quickly gained popularity with his swing repertoire, including hits like "Das ist nun mal mein Rhythmus" and "Haben Sie schon mal im Dunkeln geküßt?". Despite facing censorship from the Nazis for his "degenerate" music, Widmann led a dance orchestra at Haus Vaterland from 1938 to 1942. His band was also used for troop entertainment during World War II. Post-war, Widmann played for US Army soldier clubs. He died on November 27, 1954, from a stroke. Widmann's life was later depicted in the 1955 film Musik im Blut.
