Very happy & proud to share ‘Nocturnal’ with you! x joep
Dutch composer and pianist Joep Beving was born in Doetinchem on January 9, 1976. He took piano lessons and formed a local band in his teens, before going on to work for a company creating music for advertising. Invited to play at the International Festival of Creativity in Cannes, he realized the impact of his compositions on the public and decided to publish them on listening platforms. The success of his classically minimalist-inspired pieces, and in particular his self-produced debut album Solipsism (2015), racking up millions of listens, attracts the attention of the Deutsche Grammophon label, which signs him for the follow-ups, Prehension (2017), Conatus (2018), Henosis (2019) and Hermetism (2022). Joep Beving is now part of a new generation of composers and pianists whose original works are attracting the interest of a wide audience, beyond classical music fans. In 2017, he called on electronic music producers Max Cooper, Alva Noto, Afrodeutsch and Polynation to remix the track "Hanging D", and in 2020, he invited the Sonderling Quartet to record the EP The London Session. Joep Beving also composes for the cinema with the track "Antoinette", included in the film Mon père est un avion (2021). The Trilogy compilation, released in 2021, is followed by the Sleeping Lotus EP and the Hermetism album. In 2024, Joep Beving collaborates with Maarten Vos on the album Vision of Contentment. In 2026, the composer unveils the opus Liminal, which reaches #20 in the UK classical music charts.
