Acumen Nation, an American industrial rock band from Chicago, Illinois, was formed in 1988 by Jason Novak and Ethan Novak. Initially known as Acumen, they released several cassette demos before self-releasing the CD demo Transmissions From Eville in 1994 under Robot Records. The band added Jamie Duffy as a guitarist/engineer and bassist Greg Lopez, signing with Fifth Colvmn Records who reissued Transmissions From Eville. They embarked on national tours with acts like The Clay People and 16 Volt, recording their follow-up album Territory = Universe in 1996. Due to a legal dispute, the band changed its name to Acumen Nation in 1997. Jamie Duffy died on June 21, 2012 due to an overdose.
