Danish band Aphaca, which takes its name from a species of yellow-flowered plant, was born in Copenhagen in 2019. Comprising Kasper Trier Kaer (vocals), Bertil Engberg Nielsen (keyboards), Rumle Hueg Kaerså (guitar), Bertram Ask Plauborg (bass) and Noah Elias Rasmussen (drums), the pop quintet met at Det Frie Gymnasium in Nørrebro, Copenhagen, as part of their school. They pooled their enthusiasm to create the compositions for their debut album Et Aar Uden Dig (2022), influenced by the synthetic pop of the new wave years, alternating quiet moments with energetic, upbeat melodies. Failing immediate success, Aphaca was noticed by producer Adam Simonsen, who produced a remix of "Hjerteklang". The year 2023 proved to be a quiet one, with just one single, "Til Solen Er Sort", but the following year was a busy one, with the successive releases of the Mig Og Min Mund EP and the hit "Smelter Under Månen", which reached number 21 in the Danish charts, while the Kan Du Maerke Suset? EP had already been released.
