Arcadi Volodos is a Russian and French pianist whose repertoire includes the major works of composers such as Beethoven, Brahms, Liszt, Prokofiev, Rachmaninov, Ravel, Schubert and Schumann. Since his New York debut in 1996, he has toured the world performing with orchestras such as the Berliner Philharmoniker, the Israel Philharmonic, the New York Philharmonic, the Boston and Chicago Symphony Orchestras and many others. He has worked with some of the world's greatest conductors, including Zubin Mehta and Seiji Ozawa, and regularly performs in major concert halls in cities such as Amsterdam, Berlin, London, Paris, Rome and Vienna. Born in what is now St. Petersburg, Russia, on February 24, 1972, he studied in Moscow, Madrid and Sofia. After his New York debut, his first album for Sony Classical, Piano Transcriptions, released in 1997, won the Grammy Award for Best Solo Instrumental Performance. This was followed by a recording of her recital at New York's Carnegie Hall in 1999, and of Rachmaninov's Piano Concerto No. 3 with James Levine in 2000. After Schubert: Solo Piano Works (2002), the album Tchaikovsky & Rachmaninov reached number 42 in the classical music charts in 2003, earning him an Echo Klassik Award. Arcadi Volodos followed this up with the recitals Volodos Plays Liszt (2007), Volodos in Vienna (2010), Volodos Plays Mompou (2013) and Volodos Plays Brahms (2017), which reached number 22. In 2019, he began a new cycle of Schubert compositions with the album Schubert: Piano Sonata D.959, followed in 2026 by Schubert: Piano Sonata No. 17, D.850 - Schumann: Kinderszenen, Op. 15.
