The Double Happys was a rock band from Dunedin, New Zealand, formed in 1983 by Shayne Carter and Wayne Elsey. The duo initially employed an erratic drum machine before recruiting John Collie for a more reliable rhythm section. Their first releases were the singles "Others Way" and "Anyone Else Would." In February 1984, they participated in the Flying Nun "Looney Tour." The band released their EP Cut It Out in 1985. Tragically, during a tour later that year, Elsey fell from a moving train and died instantly. The remaining members disbanded but later formed Straitjacket Fits. In 1992, the compilation album Nerves was released, featuring their singles, EP, and live tracks.
