Born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania on November 5, 1970, identical twins Heather and Jennifer Kinley were best known as country music duo The Kinleys. The sisters moved to Nashville in 1989 and spent the next five years training, rehearsing, and honing their craft, eventually signing to Epic Records. Their Gold-selling 1997 debut album, Just Between You And Me, featured the hit single “Please”, which reached Number Seven on the Billboard Hot Country Songs chart. The album’s title track was released as a single, climbing to the Number 12 spot. The Kinleys won the 1997 Academy Of Country Music Award for Top New Vocal Duo/Group. Their single “Somebody’s Out There Watching”, which was featured on the soundtrack to the television series Touched By An Angel, became a Top 20 hit in 1998. They recorded their second album but after the failure of the first single, “My Heart is Still Beating”, the album was shelved and the girls went into the studio with singer, songwriter, and producer Radney Foster to record a more commercial album. Their sophomore album, II, was released in 2000. “I’m In” was a minor hit for The Kinleys, but the song took on a new lease on life when Keith Urban recorded a cover of it 10 years later, achieving a Number 2 hit. The Kinleys, uncomfortable with life on the road, left Epic Records. They independently released All in the Family, their third and final album, in 2004. The split up the act in order to raise their own families.
