Gianni Dei, sometimes credited as Gianni Dei Carpanelli, Nino Dei, and John Day, was born on December 21, 1940, in Bologna, Italy. An actor and a singer, he began his career after moving to Rome, where he made his film debut with a small role in Mario Camerini's Via Margutta. His breakthrough came in 1967 with the lead role in Pronto... c'è una certa Giuliana per te. Aside from his acting career, he also tried his hand at singing. His early albums include Lista d'attesa (1988), Inflazione Amerikana (1989), and L'Angelo Di Hitchcock (1991). This was followed by Fragole E Champagne (1993) and Mordi Il Meglio Della Vita (1996). Notable singles include "C'est la vie" (1994) and "Tacones altos" (1997). He passed away on October 19, 2020.
