Karen Mulder, born on June 1, 1970, in Vlaardingen, South Holland, Netherlands, was a Dutch singer and former model. Raised in The Hague and Voorburg, she began her modelling career at age 15 after winning second place in Elite Model Management's Look of the Year contest and quickly became one of the most sought-after models of the 1980s and 1990s, gracing the covers of Vogue and becoming a Victoria's Secret model, one of the original 'Angels'. In the early 2000s, she transitioned into music. Her debut single "I Am What I Am" was released on June 3, 2002, achieving some success in the French charts, reaching Number 13 and also charting at Number 22 in Belgium's Wallonia region and Number 81 in Switzerland. This led to her first album Karen Mulder, released on June 3, 2002, and a mini-CD I Am What I Am on September 23, 2002. In 2004, she collaborated with Daniel Chenevez of Niagara to create the self-titled CD Karen Mulder.
