The Vogler Quartet, a German string quartet based in Berlin, was founded in 1985. The ensemble gained prominence after winning multiple prizes at the Evian International String Quartet Competition in France in May 1986. The quartet received artistic influences from notable groups such as the LaSalle Quartet and the Guarneri Quartet, as well as from Sándor Végh and György Kurtág. The Vogler Quartet has since performed internationally in major music centers and at important festivals. They have released numerous recordings, including complete sets of string quartets by Robert Schumann and Johannes Brahms, as well as works by Beethoven, Debussy, Janáček, Reger, Shostakovich, Karl Amadeus Hartmann, and Michael Denhoff. The quartet also became actively involved in various music festivals and educational projects, such as the Kassel Music Festival and the International Chamber Music Campus of Jeunesses Musicales Deutschland at Weikersheim Castle.
