Fonda 500, a British electropop band from Kingston upon Hull, was formed in 1995. Their debut album, 8 Track Sound System, was released in 1999. The band's first two albums were on Village Records (Hull), and they signed to Truck Records (Oxford) for Number One Hifi Hair (2002). In 2004, Gentle Electric (Nottingham) released Spectrumatronicalogical Sounds and ABCDELP. Their sixth album, Je m'appelle Stereo, was released on their own label Record Mountain in 2008. Fonda 500's songs appeared on the soundtracks of notable productions such as the British comedy television programme Teachers, Colin Farrell's film Intermission, and E4's Skins. In 2014, they released an 8-bit rendition of their debut album titled 8-Bit Sound System. The band continued with the release of I Heart Fonda 500 in 2018.
