Daniel Ottensamer, born on July 26, 1986 in Vienna, Austria, is a clarinetist. He completed his studies at the University for Music and Performing Arts Vienna under Johann Hindler with distinction. In 2006, he joined the orchestra of the Wiener Philharmoniker and the Wiener Staatsoper, becoming a solo clarinetist in 2009. Ottensamer has performed as a soloist with various orchestras including the Münchner Rundfunkorchester, and Mozarteumorchester Salzburg. In 2016, he premiered Iván Eröds Tripelkonzert für drei Klarinetten und Orchester with his father and brother under Andris Nelsons at the Wiener Musikverein. He was also a member of the ensemble Philharmonix, which won the Opus Klassik Prize in 2018. Ottensamer has won several awards including the Musica Juventutis-Wettbewerb in Vienna (2004) and the Carl Nielsen International Clarinet Competition in Denmark (2009).
