Brigitte Stefan & Meridian was a German rock and Neue Deutsche Welle band founded in the DDR in 1969. Established by Heinz Putz, the group was originally known as JTO Meridian, an abbreviation for Jugend Tanz Orchester. The band featured vocalist Brigitte Otto, who adopted the stage name Brigitte Stefan and eventually married Putz. The group renamed itself in 1976 and transitioned to the Neue Deutsche Welle genre in 1981. This shift led to their most successful period, featuring hits such as “Linie 6” and “Wenn Du denkst, ich bin doof, Männer”, which reached number 29 on the DDR annual charts in 1982. The band released its eponymous debut album in 1985 and later performed as Brigitte Stefan & Band. The group became inactive in November 1990. Stefan subsequently worked as a businesswoman until 2007, when the compilation Die grössten Hits was released.
