Holopaw is an American indie ensemble formed in 2001 in Gainesville. The group was named after a town in Osceola County, Florida. The initial lineup consisted of John Orth and Jeff Hays, later expanding to include Michael Johnson, Ryan Gensemer, and Tobi Echevarria for the first two studio albums. Orth collaborated with Isaac Brock in 2002 on the recording Sharpen Your Teeth. Holopaw released its self-titled debut studio album, Holopaw, in 2003 through Sub Pop. Subsequent recordings included Quit +/or Fight (2005) and Oh, Glory. Oh, Wilderness. (2009). Johnson later joined the group Lilys. The ensemble released the album Academy Songs, Volume I in 2013, which received a 5.8 rating from Pitchfork. Later members included Patrick Quinney, Matt Radick, Jeff McMullen, and Ryan Quinney.
