Trio of Doom was a short-lived jazz fusion power trio consisting of John McLaughlin on guitar, Jaco Pastorius on bass, and Tony Williams on drums. Formed in 1979 by Columbia Records for the Havana Jam festival in Cuba, their only live performance occurred on March 3, 1979, and was documented in Ernesto Juan Castellanos's film Havana Jam '79. The trio disbanded shortly after due to a dispute between Pastorius and Williams. An album titled Trio of Doom was released in 2007, featuring five live tracks from the Havana Jam festival and five studio recordings made on March 8, 1979. The album includes notable songs such as "Dark Prince" by John McLaughlin and "Continuum" by Jaco Pastorius.
