Daniel McBride, known professionally as Sheep, Dog & Wolf, is a multi-instrumentalist, vocalist, and composer based in Auckland, New Zealand. He began his music career at a young age, releasing his first EP, Ablutophobia, independently in 2011 at the age of 17. This early release garnered international praise, with McBride being compared to Sufjan Stevens by The Guardian and Vogue Italia calling the EP "a rare pearl." In 2013, he released his debut full-length album Egospect through Lil' Chief Records, which was a finalist for the Taite Music Prize for Best New Zealand Album. McBride's second album, Two-Minds, was released in 2021 through Aphrodite and was also nominated for the Taite Music Prize in 2022. Throughout his career, Sheep, Dog & Wolf has been recognized for his dense instrumentation, unusual time signatures, and vocal layering, with all releases performed, recorded, and produced by McBride himself.
