The Indelible Murtceps were an Australian progressive rock and dance-pop band formed in Melbourne in October 1971 as a side project of Spectrum. The group consisted of Mike Rudd on lead guitar, lead vocals, and harmonica, Lee Neale on keyboards, Bill Putt on bass guitar, and Ray Arnott on drums. They were created to perform simpler, dance-pop tunes at smaller venues while Spectrum continued its progressive rock path. Their debut single "Esmeralda" was released in 1972 and peaked at number 36 on the Go-Set National Top 40. The Indelible Murtceps' debut album Warts Up Your Nose was issued in 1973. Keyboardist Lee Neale left the band in September 1972 and was replaced by John Mills. The group disbanded after a joint final gig with Spectrum at Dallas Brooks Hall on April 15, 1973, which was recorded for the live double album Terminal Buzz (1973).
