6 String Drag was an American alt-country band from Clemson, South Carolina. Founded by Kenny Roby after leaving punk rock band The Lubricators in 1992, the group initially started as a country cover band called the Welfare Liners. After transitioning to original music, they renamed themselves 6 String Drag and expanded their lineup. The band released their self-titled debut album 6 String Drag in 1994, followed by High Hat, which was released in 1997. The group disbanded in October 1998, with Roby beginning a solo career and Keller forming the bluegrass project Welfare Liners. They reunited in 2014 and continued releasing albums, including The Jag Sessions: Rare & Unreleased 1996-1998 in 2014, Roots Rock 'N' Roll in 2015, and Top of the World in 2018.
