Olivia Chaney, born 18 July 1982 in Florence, Italy, is a British folk singer, pianist, guitarist, and harmonium player whose early training in composition, piano, and voice was supplemented by scholarships to Chetham’s School of Music and the Royal Academy of Music. Her first independent EP appeared in 2010, followed by Olivia Chaney (2012); the 2013 The Mark Radcliffe Folk Sessions and the 2015 The Longest River on Nonesuch Records marked her breakthrough, with the title track nominated for a BBC Radio 2 Folk Award. Subsequent releases included Shelter (2018) and Circus of Desire (2024). She has collaborated with Robert Plant, The Decemberists, Kronos Quartet, and Alasdair Roberts, and performed at Richard Thompson’s 70th birthday in 2019.
