Nicolas Hodges, born in 1970 in London, is a pianist. Raised in a musical family, Hodges began his musical education at Christ Church Cathedral School and later studied piano with Robert Bottone at Winchester College. His early career included performances as a treble in the Christ Church Cathedral Choir. Hodges' breakthrough came through his association with contemporary composers. Notable works written for him include Elliott Carter's Dialogues for Piano and Orchestra and Harrison Birtwistle's Gigue Machine. He has recorded extensively, with albums such as Finnissy's Etched Bright With Sunlight (2002), Birtwistle's The Axe Manual, Complete Piano Works (2004), and Ferneyhough's Complete Piano Works (2015). He has been a Professor of Piano at the Musikhochschule in Stuttgart.
