Alex Scorier was born on June 6, 1931, in Ottignies, was a Belgian jazz musician, saxophonist, and flutist. He studied saxophone and clarinet at the Académie in Ixelle before moving to the Royal Conservatory of Brussels to study bassoon in 1949. In 1951, Scorier won the Hot Club of Belgium competition and began performing with notable musicians such as Jack Sels, Ernst van’t Hoff, and Fud Candrix. He released his debut album, Sax in the Box, in 1971 under Polydor Records. Throughout his career, Scorier collaborated with various artists, including Duke Ellington, Clark Terry, and Steve Lacy. From 1964 to 1991, he was a member of the BRT Bigband led by Francis Bay and Freddy Sunder. He also played in Marc Moulin's rock-jazz formation Placebo and performed at the Montreux Jazz Festival in 1971. Scorier passed away on June 12, 2021, in Marcq.
