Alysha Brillinger, known professionally as Alysha Brilla, was born on November 3, 1988, in Mississauga, Ontario. She is an Indo-Canadian singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist who began her musical journey in local bands and festivals during her early teens. In 2010, she signed a major record deal with Lava/Universal Republic Records. Brilla's debut album In My Head was released independently on Sunny Jam Records in July 2013, earning her the first JUNO Award nomination for a self-produced female artist in Canadian history. She has since released Womyn, Rooted, and Circle. Brilla has collaborated with notable artists such as The Black Eyed Peas, Bedouin Soundclash, and No Doubt. She received three JUNO Award nominations for her self-produced albums and won the Producer of the Year award at the Independent Music Awards in 2018.
