The Detergents are an American music group specializing in parody songs, consisting of Ronnie Dante, Danny Jordan, and Tommy Wynn. The trio began their career as staff writers and session singers for Aldon Music before being approached by Paul Vance to record "Leader of the Laundromat" in 1964. This song, a spoof of the Shangri-Las' "Leader of the Pack", became a top 20 hit on the Billboard Hot 100 chart in January 1965, peaking at number 19. The success of this single led to appearances on television shows such as Shindig! and Hullabaloo, as well as tours with Dick Clark's Caravan of Stars. The group released their second and final appearance on the Billboard Hot 100 with "Double-O-Seven" in spring 1965, which reached number 89. They also recorded a parody of the Shangri-Las' hit "I Can Never Go Home Anymore", titled "I Can Never Eat Home Anymore". The band was active until 1966. Danny Jordan died in December 2024.
